Medical Student Research Award

The AANEM Medical Student Research Award encourages medical students to conduct research in neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine. The award is given to up to 10 medical students per year. Each recipient must be an AANEM member and currently enrolled in an accredited medical school at the time of abstract submission. 
 
Deadline for Submission is March 15.
 

Award Subject and Criteria

Research must be conducted on topics in the fields of neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine. Those who are the first author and designated presenter of an accepted abstract for the AANEM Annual Meeting receive a $500 cash award.
 
Note: To qualify for this award, the first author and designated presenter must be a Medical Student Member at the time of abstract submission. This award cannot be given to the same individual more than once. 
 

Submission Guidelines

Submit an abstract between January 1 and March 15. To be considered for this award, during the application process, indicate that you plan to apply for the Medical Student Research Award. A letter of recommendation must also be submitted from the project director (person overseeing the work presented on the poster) indicating the extent of your participation in the project.

Medical Student Research Award recipients receive: 
  • $500 cash
  • Recognition in the Annual Meeting Program and at the AANEM Annual Meeting
  • Abstract published in Muscle & Nerve
